Questions families ask us first
- How far ahead should we book?
- Two to three days ahead is comfortable, and recurring weekly rides such as dialysis can be set up once and left in place. That said, same-day and next-morning requests are often possible — call us and we will tell you honestly what we have available rather than leaving you guessing.
- Can I request a ride at night or at the weekend?
- Yes. The form can be sent at any hour, and requests that arrive overnight are confirmed by 7am the next morning. Our phones are answered by a real person 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so if something is urgent please call rather than wait for the form.
- Can a family member ride along?
- Yes. A spouse, adult child or caregiver is welcome to ride with the passenger at no extra vehicle charge — just tell us when you book so we send a car with the room. Many families come along for the first ride and stop once they have met the driver.
- What about wheelchairs and mobility limits?
- The passenger needs to be able to transfer into a car seat, on their own or with a steady arm from the driver. Canes, walkers and lightweight travel wheelchairs travel with you in the trunk. We do not have lifts or ramps, so a passenger who must stay in a power chair needs a lift-equipped provider — call us and we will tell you straight if we are the right fit.
- Will the driver wait during the appointment?
- That is up to you, and we will agree it when the ride is arranged. Some passengers prefer the driver to wait through the appointment; others prefer we come back at an agreed time once the clinic knows how long it will take. If an appointment runs longer than expected, nobody is left in a lobby — call us and we will sort the ride home.
- Where do you drive?
- Columbia and the surrounding Midlands region of South Carolina, including trips out of the area for specialist appointments and airport runs. If you are not sure whether your address or destination is covered, call and ask — we would rather answer than have you assume.
- Can you set up a recurring ride?
- Yes, and it is one of the most useful things we do. Dialysis, physical therapy courses, infusion schedules and regular specialist visits can be arranged once as a recurring schedule that simply repeats. Mention the days, times and clinic in the notes field and we will call to confirm the whole pattern rather than a single trip.
- How does payment work?
- Pricing depends on the distance, the time of day and how long the driver waits, so we confirm the exact cost with you when the ride is arranged — before anyone gets in the car. No surge pricing and no surprises on the ride home.
